The eGalway group was established in January 2005 under the auspices of Galway City Development Board and Galway Chamber.
The group comprises high level representation from organisations including: City of Galway VEC, Galway Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hewlett-Packard, Galway Technology Centre, Galway City Council, Galway County Council, West Regional Authority, TG4, Marketing Institute, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, NUI, Galway, Health Service Executive, WESTBIC and the Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs.
The overall aim of the eGalway Group is to make Galway a leading-edge and competitive 'knowledge region' through the adoption, use and best practices by the general public and business in using all facets of the Internet and broadband.
The Group hopes to bring to the attention of the general public and the business community of Galway the many advantages of using the Internet from a business, entertainment, educational, cultural and social aspect. In doing this we hope to encourage the increased usage of the Internet and the use of broadband.
